While the UK seems far from ideal when it comes to going for a winter vacation, I can assure you that it’s worth visiting. It tends to turn into a winter wonderland with many activities, especially for the more adventurous travellers. Another cool thing is that it’s considered the low season so you’ll see the more peaceful side of the UK with cheaper prices for most things. My winter experience in the UK Last year I spent my winter vacation in Bangkok. While I liked the wet winter, I still prefer the snowy version of winter. It’s fun to explore different places with their own unique weather. Plus I was lucky enough to get tickets for Bangkok discounted flights and save some extra cash. However, after spending a winter vacation in Great Britain, I can confidently say that snowy winter is much better. No Crowds Britain is quite popular among tourists so you can imagine how crowded it must get in peak season. That is not the case while visiting it in winter because most people prefer to stay inside and pass the winter time quietly. While in peak season, the popular sites are noisy and sometimes you need to... Read More
You can’t keep your eyes on your luggage all day long when you are out on a trip. So here are some tips for you for better luggage storage. 1- Using right locks You need to make sure that your bag is locked rightly when you are on travel. Select the best locks for your bag which don’t get broke and should be highly secure. The locks approved by TSA are not completely secure and their master key could be easily available to anyone. So the better option for you to have completely secure locks on your bag and if somehow you are not able to do so, then use a fastener and attach it to the zip of your bag. This way you’ll be alerted all the time and you’ll keep checking your bag. Putting no lock on the bag just because you know that no lock is safe would be a mistake. So just put a lock on your bag and make one thing sure that the lock should be thick, thick enough that no one could cut it. 2- Keep Eye Contact with the Bag As you can’t keep your eyes on your bag all the time... Today will be the official day that schools right across the UK will be closing for the summer holidays! So far we have had a fantastic summer and now that all the kids will be out we hope it will continue. There will be approximately 6 weeks of freedom for children of all ages until school opens it's doors again. Make sure they count! No matter where you live in Great Britain and Northern Ireland, there is something you can do with the whole family. Our sister directory, Great Days Out UK, as well as our Days Out and Leisure page, Quoakle Days Out and Leisure, can help. Enjoy!
We have some exciting news concerning our sister directory, Great Days Out UK! Since Tim's return, the Quoakle office has been ablaze with creativity and new ideas. As with most things on the internet these days, businesses do what they can to keep up-to-date with the constant flow of change that takes place. We always endeavour to make our websites the most user friendly on the world wide web! So as it stands, we are currently working on a new and improved Great Days Out directory! We will keep updated as the work progresses!
It is hard to believe that we are right in the middle of the summer holidays already and yet the weather has been somewhat of a disappointment so far!It seems that we have also been on a summer holiday ourselves, considering it has been awhile since our last blog! Nigel and Tim have been busy while Sean had been on another of his epic Scandinavian adventures. Our clients, Greenfield Garden Services are currently in the middle of having a brand new website. Our Great Days Out UK directory has also had a number of updates over the last month or two! All of our paying clients will have additional text on their advertising links. We are hoping this will make our Google listing more competitive as well as increasing the number of visitors to our website. Here is how one of their links will look like when you click on their logo...
Once again, the UK will be soon drenched in wall-to-wall sunshine (Well we hope so anyways)! So, as the summer is just around the corner, we thought it would be good to keep busy by continuing to tweak our directory with adding more text. This will give our existing, paying customers more exposure. So you will see that when you click on this page here : https://www.great-days-out.co.uk/south-west-england/gloucestershire/, and then click onto one of the advertising links, for example, 'Cattle Country', you will see a box appear in the middle of your screen with the same logo but with additional text. Have a look at the snapshot below. This is how it will look when you carry out the procedure above. We are hoping that this will also help with our Google listing and website ranking, as we have taken a bit of a 'hit' from the latest Google algorithm and have been doing all that we can to correct it!
The Half term in May is only a week or two away now - dates that most schoolchildren have probably already memorised by now!School holidays and term times can vary depending on which part of the country you live in. However the majority of kids will have the May half term break between May 29th and June 2nd.So, where does one go? Well, depending on where you live of course, but for starters we think the East Midlands is brilliant. The South West has got some great scenic routes. Yorkshire and the Humber is a region which you can never grow tired of and there is always something to see in Essex and Kent! The valleys in Wales are breathtaking as are the mountainous views of Scotland. Let's not forget Northern Ireland either which is fantastic in the summer! With over 64 counties in the UK to choose from, just click on Great Days Out to find out more about what these islands can offer you!If you are not sure what you would like to do in the UK either, then you have the option to browse by Category. This gives you 12 options to choose from - from Adventure Activities too Museums and Galleries! We are easy... Read More
Research on how people use the internet confirms that more and more of us are using our iPhones and tablets to go online. In order to make our Great Days Out directory more easier on the eye for the user, we were able to alter the size of the county logo's as well as the category logo's, thanks to Tim's tweaking! To give you an idea of the alterations, you will see 2 pictures below. One is before the change and the other after...Before the changes...After the changesYou will see that the main webpage is more filled out. It only took a few minutes to do strangely enough, but it does make a difference!Of course there are always things we can do to improve our user's experience of the website and we will continue to do so.
This will probably be our last Blog of 2016, so we wanted to let you all know what has been happening. The development of the Quoakle directory has had some delays due to Tim Coysh's other commitments, i.e, a new job which he started a few months ago, but he has been able to do some occasional work revamping the website. We still hope at some point in 2017 that the new and improved directory will be relaunched. We will keep you posted as to when that will be.Tim Davis, of TCD Web Design, is still helping out with websites and has learnt a lot about coding and design. He still hopes to fly out to Australia in April of next year and will be out there for approximately 6 months.Sean Cresswell is still doing what he can to help continually promote the Great Days Out directory via all the relevant Social Media networks and to contact the myriad of businesses in the UK which is on the database. It has been encouraging to see the majority of businesses keen to renew with us during this past year.Nigel Steele is still masterfully juggling all the paper work in the office! He was... Read More
